While many farmers look to April to begin work in the fields, weather conditions have not cooperated this season.
The latest report from the United States Department of Agriculture shows Tennessee producers have made little progress in planting.
Currently, three percent of corn crops have been planted statewide.
This is half of what was planted at this same time in 2024.
The USDA report also showed only two-percent of early soybeans have been placed in the ground, also a 50-percent reduction from last years early April output.
Winter wheat is looking good in the Crop Condition report, with 50-percent of the crop listed as “good” and 18-percent rated as “excellent”.
