Governor Bill Lee has called for a special legislative session, among topics being discussed during the session will be the contested school choice bill.
Weakley County Schools Director Jeff Cupples explains the school voucher system and gives his thoughts on it.
Director Cupples says if passed the voucher bill probably would not have an immediate effect on Weakley County, but has concerns that home schooling could be an amendment to the bill.
The bill would include a one-time bonus for teachers, but Director Cupples says that would not be much of a benefit.
The special session of the General Assembly will be held on Monday.
