In a women’s half of the double header UT Martin defeated the Arkansas State Red Wolves with an 82-71 victory at home this weekend. The Red Wolves led 33-29 in the first half however the Skyhawks scored 63 points after the breal and held Arkansas State to only 38 points. UT Martin improved to 2 and 8 on the season while Arkansas State fell to 3 and 5.
UT Martin men defeated Champion Baptist College with a score of 123- 56.
The Skyhawks scored 19 three-pointers – two more than their previous record of 17 against Bethel University on Dec. 13, 2022 – on 42 tries for a scorching 45.2 percent shooting effort from downtown.
UT Martin also corralled 73 rebounds on the day, breaking the previous mark of 68 set against Troy on Feb. 24, 1979 and Union on Feb. 19, 1974. The Skyhawks improved 4 and 7 while Champion Baptist fell to 0 -5
The Skyhawks will travel to Morehead Thursday.
