A residential fire on the outskirts of South Fulton destroyed a home in the 4000 block of Highway 45 East Tuesday afternoon that blocked highway traffic.
South Fulton Fire Chief John Curtis said the call came in around 4:30pm where the single story home was engulfed with smoke and flames when fire fighters arrived.
Help from Fulton, Union City and Rives fire departments were on the scene along with an aerial ladder truck from Fulton Fire Fighters helped extinguish the blaze which had broken through the roof.
Chief Curtis said no one was at home at the time and names were not available. Cause of the blaze is undetermined but there was no indication of foul play.
Chief Curtis said one fire fighter was overcome with heat but did not require transport. A number of agencies including the THP, Obion County Sheriff’s Department, Gibson Electric, South Fulton Public Works, South Fulton Police and Ken-Tenn EMS assisted.
