UT Martin women’s basketball team will travel to play Holy Cross of the Patriot League Thursday in the first round of the NCAA basketball tournament. The game will be played in Iowa City, Iowa.
UT Martin women’s coach Kevin McMillan said his team is “ready to play the Crusaders” who’s home is in Worcester, Massachusetts. He said he’s “already watched on film on Holy Cross.”
This will be Coach McMillan’s 5th NCAA appearance. He has a record of 281 and 193 and an conference record of 189-70, five OVC championships and five NIT births. This will be Coach McMillan’s 475th game to coach in his career.
Meanwhile the Lady Crusaders are coached by Marureen Magarity who has a coaching record of 51 and 28 in three years.
A win Thursday would put the victor against the number one team in the nation, the Iowa Lady Hawkeyes Saturday. UT Martin makes the tournament with a 16-16 record and finished the season 2nd in the OVC. to Southern Indiana who were not eligible for post season play.
The 20 and 12 Holy Cross women’s team defeated Boston University 61-55 Sunday to win the Patriot championship and were placed with UT Martin for their first game in the NCAA tournament.
Meanwhile the Number six seed in the NCAA tournament is the Tennessee Lady Vols (24-8) who will face 11th seed Green Bay in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Lady Vols will be in the Portland regional.
Meanwhile the Number 2 seed (24-8) Tennessee men’s team will play St. Peters of Jersery City New Jersery (19-13) Thursday at 8:20pm. You’ll hear the Vols on Star 95.1 .
