The Spring Wildfire Hazard Season is now in place in Kentucky.

Until April 30th, state law prohibits burning between the daytime hours of 6:00 until 6:00 within 150-feet of any woodland or brushland.

Department of Forestry officials say 22-percent of Kentucky is still abnormally dry, which also creates a fire hazard.

State forestry reports show 90-percent of all wild fires in Kentucky are caused by humans, which includes unattended camp fires and fires caused by farm and other equipment.

The report also stated 60-percent of wild fires are caused by arson.
