Arctic air continues to blast the local region with sub-freezing temperatures and sub-zero wind chills. This type of extreme cold is dangerous and appropriate caution must be taken when extended exposure occurs. Martin Fire Chief Jamie Summers says when preparing to travel, ensure that supplies such as food, water, and additional blankets, as well as sand or kitty litter are good to have on hand in case your vehicle becomes stranded.
Chief Summers encourage not to overload wall sockets with heaters and he does not recommend using the kitchen oven when trying to heat the house.
