Memphis Police Investigate Five Shooting Deaths During Seven Hour Period on Tuesday

The Memphis Police Department reported a deadly period from Tuesday afternoon until early Wednesday morning.

WREG reported a string of violent crimes over a seven hour period, which resulted in at least five shootings that killed five people.

Police say the deadly crimes began just after 5:30 Tuesday afternoon, when a man was shot and killed outside a fast food restaurant in Frayser.

At 7:30, a female security employee was critically injured after being shot during an attempted carjacking at the Frayser Village Shopping Center.

Thirty-minutes later, Memphis police responded to a home on Cleoford Avenue, where two people were shot and killed and a third critically injured.

In South Memphis around 12:20, a shooting claimed the life of a man on South Wellington Street, with police responding just ten minutes later to the shooting death of a man at a gas station on Airways Boulevard.
