UT Martin Rodeo Team Places Fourth in Spring Rodeo

Both UT Martin rodeo teams placed fourth in their respective standings over the weekend during the 57th Annual Spring Rodeo.

The UTM cowboys managed 370 points, while the women’s team accumulated 155.

In calf roping Bentley Anthony placed second across the board with times of 10.4 in the first go and 11.0 flat in the short round for a 21.4 average. Coming in right behind him was Caden Ussery.

Anna Wilder led the way for the Skyhawk women’s team in goat tying as her 7.0 seconds flat in the first round was the fourth-best time in the field.

In team roping, Ussery formed a duo with Southern Arkansas’ Dakota Benight to place third in the opening round (7.4) and fifth in average (7.4).

UT Martin came away with a plethora of points in barrel racing headed by Allie Sherman, who received first-place honors in all three phases of the event.

The Skyhawks head to their regular season finale in Mississippi on Thursday for a rodeo hosted by Northwest Mississippi.
