Local Farmers Back in the Fields Following Heavy Rainfall

Area farmers are getting back in the fields following heavy rainfall the first week of April.

The latest report from the United States Department of Agriculture shows low planting numbers in both Tennessee and Kentucky.

Fulton County Agriculture Extension Agent Ben Rudy told Thunderbolt News about the status of farming for mid-April.(AUDIO)

 

Despite the extremely large amount of rain, Rudy said many farmers are now back to business as usual.(AUDIO)

 

The Extension Agent said some areas still affected by the river flooding may see a crop switch from corn to soybeans due to timing.
