UT Martin Offering Summer Youth Programs

The University of Tennessee at Martin is hosting several youth programs this summer for area children and teens, and registration for these programs is now open.

Each program will be held on the main campus of UT Martin.

Here is a look at what is offered at UT Martin:

• Junior Kid College, May 27-30: Junior Kid College is open to students rising into kindergarten to those going into second grade. Sessions are held daily from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with daily check-ins at 8:15 a.m. Students can choose from several classes for each hour, making for four fun-filled days. A listing of classes and description of the program are available online. No lunch is provided, but students are welcome to bring a water bottle each day. Registration is $175.

• Kid College, June 2-6: Kid College is open to students rising to the third grade through those going into fifth grade. Sessions are held daily from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a daily check-in at 8:30 a.m. Students can choose from several classes for each hour. Students are asked to bring a lunch, water bottle and backpack each day. Full-day registration is $250, and half-day registration is $150.

• Lego Robotics, June 9-13: Lego Robotics is divided into two groups: the WeDo, which is open to students rising to kindergarten through those going into second grade to use the Lego WeDo robotics kits, and the SPIKE, which is open to students rising to third grade through those going into fifth grade to use the Lego SPIKE robotics kits. Students will have a hands-on experience in robotics and coding using Lego robotics kits. The WeDo sessions are held from 9 to 11 a.m. each day, with daily check-in at 8:45 a.m., while the Spike sessions are held from 1 to 3 p.m., with daily check-in at 12:45 p.m. Registration is $200.

• Skyhawk Discovery Camp, June 23-27: Skyhawk Discovery Camp is open to students rising to the sixth grade through those going into eighth grade. It is offered through a partnership with Discovery Park of America Students will spend the week on campus and at Discovery Park of America enjoying STEAM-based activities (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics). Sessions are held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with check-ins at 8 a.m. on June 23 and 8:15 a.m. every following day. Registration is $225.
