Special Announcement From Obion County Mayor Steve Carr

announcement

SPECIAL WEATHER RELATED ANNOUNCEMENT FOR OBION COUNTY RESIDENTS:
We have asked the Red Cross to set up a shelter for Obion County residents who have been displaced due to storm damage or rising flood waters. The location and time of opening the shelter will be announced later this afternoon.
We have arranged for a temporary shelter in the church facilities of the First Church of God at 415 South Miles Avenue in Union City. This temporary shelter is now available and will be open until the Red Cross shelter is open and ready to receive folks.
The forecast is calling for more rain, heavy at times, for the next several hours. If you live in an area that is prone to flooding I am asking you to get to the shelter or a family member or friend’s house before more flooding occurs and it will be more difficult and dangerous to travel.
As always, your safety and well-being is of the utmost importance to me. We will get through these challenging times as we continue to work together and help each other along the way. Let’s pray for one another and ask for the Lord to guide us.
May God bless all of you,
Steve Carr
Mayor of Obion County
