Tornado Destroyed Home in Weakley County Others Damaged

A tornado destroyed one home and damaged others in the Palmersville Latham communities in Weakley County last night around 9pm during yesterday’s “round one” of a nasty storm that’s crossing mid America.

Emergency Management Agency Director  Ray Wiggington tells Thunderbolt News the tornado destroyed a home on Mac Terrell Road in the Latham  area.

In addition there was  damage to homes in and around Chestnut Glade and Stephenson Road where the tornado was believed to have struck ground.

Weakley County School Director Jeff Cupples closed schools today because of the amount debris and limbs on school bus routes and other issues.

WCMES Manager  Andrea Harrington says the northeast portion of Weakley County sustained damage.  Over 10,000 customers were without electricity last night and many other are out.   Meanwhile Gibson Electric reports many Kenton residents are without electricity due to eight broken power poles.   Obion, Gibson, Dyer and Crockett counties have power issues  at this time.

In addition to Weakley County schools are closed, Carroll County school are also closed today.
