A Rives man was arrested in Union City after leaving two children at McDonald’s.

Union City police reports said 35 year old William Cody Harris was taken into custody on two counts of child neglect.

Police were dispatched to McDonald’s after the manager said a man named “Turtle” brought the kids inside, ordered food and took them into the Play Place.

The manager said the man then left.

Officers arrived to find McDonald’s employees caring for and feeding the four-year-old from Martin and five-year-old from Union City.

The children were able to give their names and their parents names, which allowed a contact with a family member.

Police learned both mothers were out of town, with Harris in charge of watching the children.

Approximately 20 minutes after police arrived at the restaurant, Harris returned and said he realized he did not have the children when he got home.

After police consultation with the mothers, the two children were placed into the custody of a grandmother, who had also arrived at the scene.
