A large crowd turned out Thursday afternoon for a public meeting by the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

The meeting at the South Fulton High School gymnasium was to reveal engineer designs for the planned I-69 corridor connecting Kentucky with Tennessee.

The proposed corridor improvement is just west of the US-51/US-45E/US-45W interchange to near the western ramps of Exit 1 of the Purchase Parkway at the US-51/Nolan Avenue interchange.

The proposed 1.6 mile project will improve connectivity and advance the conversion of US-51 to I-69.

Plans call for new bridges over State Route 215 and West State Line Street, along with three roundabouts and a dedicated right turn lane at South Fulton Middle/High School.

TDOT officials say the planned construction of the I-69 interchange connecting Fulton County with Obion County will begin in 2028.

The project is expected to take around two years to complete.
