Kentucky State Police at Post 1 Mayfield have been requested to investigate a death in Marshall County.
The Benton Police Department requested assistance from State Police in connection with the death of 49 year old Lia Thompson, of Benton.
A preliminary investigation showed shortly before 2:00 on Wednesday afternoon, Ms. Thompson was located deceased inside her residence with injuries indicating foul play.
State Police say the death is being investigated as a homicide and Post 1 detectives are actively following leads.
