A Gibson County man has been sentenced to serve 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to second degree murder.
In November of 2022, 28-year-old Tyler Pierce, along with co-defendants 28-year-old Johnny Yarbrough and 33-year-old Amanda Cathey, drove to a residence in Bradford planning to rob Joseph Simpson and another resident.
During the robbery, Simpson was shot and died from his injuries. Pierce, Cathey, and Yarbrough fled the scene, but were later apprehended by law enforcement.
Pierce also pled guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm and was sentenced to eight years of strict supervision after serving his 25 years.
Yarbrough and Cathey are awaiting trial for their charges.
