

President Donald Trump is considering an executive order to eliminate the United States Department of Education.
During his campaign for the highest office, President Trump expressed his desire to close the 46 year old Department of Education and turn school decision making back to the states.
Following the Union City school board meeting this week, Director of Schools Wes Kennedy was asked about the possible closure of the federal department.(AUDIO)

Closing the U.S. Department of Education has been discussed for multiple years, with President Ronald Reagan also campaigning for its closure back in 1980.
