
Area residents will lose an hour of sleep this weekend as clocks “spring” forward one hour.
Daylight Saving Time will officially arrive at 2:00 on Sunday morning.
With the time change, longer daylight hours will occur in the evenings.
After Sunday, Daylight Saving Time will be in place for nine months, until Standard Time returns on November 2nd.
The length of Daylight Saving Time was established by the Energy Policy Act of 2005.
In 2022, a bill passed unanimously in the United States Senate to keep Daylight Saving Time permanently, but the House refused to take up the issue.
In January of 2023, 19 states had passed bills to end the switch of time.
