A Dresden woman has filed a $300,000 lawsuit against the City of Gleason for a traffic stop that occurred in March of last year.

In the complaint for damages, Taija George claims Gleason Police Officer Alexander Sherwood performed multiple searches on her vehicle and person without probable cause during a two hour traffic stop for speeding.

The complaint also states Officer Sherwood conducted four field tests for narcotics on a $20 bill from inside her vehicle until the test returned positive on a fourth attempt.

The plaintiff claims that $1,000 in cash taken from her vehicle was not returned.

Mrs. George is seeking compensation for damages to her automobile, theft of $1,000, reckless conduct of the Gleason Police Chief and city administration, the cost of towing her vehicle, and monetary damages due to loss of employment and parole restrictions.

Ms. George is being represented by attorney Jeff Washburn. Gleason Mayor Charles Anderson told Thunderbolt News that the issue has been turned over to their legal team and that Officer Sherwood is no longer with the Gleason Police Department.
