A bill is moving in the Kentucky Legislature concerning communications between teachers and students.
Senate Bill 181 was heard this week in the Senate Committee on Families and Children.
Senator Lindsey Tichenor detailed her sponsored bill during the meeting.(AUDIO)
The bill does not prevent educators from speaking with students, but ensure the communication is transparent and accountable.
If passed, school employees and volunteers would be required to report known direct private communications that could be deemed as inappropriate.
The Educational Professional Standards Board would then have 120 days to initiate an investigation.
Senate bill 181 passed in committee and now heads to the full Senate.
