Former Dresden football coach Scott Hewett, 72, has passed away following a short illness.
Visitation will be held Saturday at the Southside Church of Christ in Dresden from 11:00 until service time at 2:00. Burial will follow at the Sunset Cemetery.
Coach Hewett played for the UT Martin Pacers from 1976 to 1979.
Coach Hewett came to Dresden in 1981 where he served as head football coach and also as a softball coach for a number of years.
In 2011, he took the Dresden Lion football team to the state championship and were runner-up.
After retirement, he returned to the sideline as an assistant football coach to Justin Cruse.
