Some residents in Rives may soon be restored with electricity.
Monday afternoon, Daniel Goode, the Manager of Operations with the Gibson Electric Membership Corporation, met with officials at Ridgemont School.
In a meeting that included County Mayor Steve Carr, Sheriff Karl Jackson, Rives Mayor Lester Burnes and Rives Fire Chief Campbell Rice, Goode explained the criteria for having power restored.(AUDIO)
Romex is a brand name for a type of electrical cable used in residential construction, but is not designed for outdoor use and can be damaged by water.
With the forecast this week calling for temperatures in the teens and single-digits, Goode said his crews will make all attempts to restore service.(AUDIO)
Mayor Burns did report some good news on Monday, indicating that water levels had slowly started to recede in Rives.
