Obion County’s Director of Schools says he anticipates the school board will “opt-in” to the recently passed Education Freedom Act.
The State Legislature voted to approve the voucher bill, which allows state tax dollars to be used for private school scholarships.
If a school board “opts-in” to the plan, a select group of teachers will receive a $2,000 bonus.
Director Tim Watkins said he anticipates the school board supporting the bonus for the eligible teachers.(AUDIO)

School boards across the state have until June 1st to make their decision.
A decision to “opt-out” would eliminate the teacher bonus.
