The eligibility and residence of Tennessee high school student-athletes will be discussed Tuesday.

The TSSAA Legislative Council will hold a special called meeting at Mt. Juliet.

Council members will be discussing, and possibly deciding, whether to amend the Transfer Rule and/or the Residence Rule for student athletes.

Discussion will include the option to allow students, who transfer for academic reasons, to retain their varsity eligibility.

The previous school administration would be required to confirm the transfer was unrelated to athletics.

Discussion will also include a proposal to allow the one-time transfer of students following completion of the 9th grade without loss of athletic eligibility.

If approved, any subsequent transfers would be subject to current Residence and Transfer Rules.
