An investigation is underway into the theft of a vehicle from Herman Jenkins Motors in Union City.
Union City police reports said on January 16th a 2024 Toyota Tacoma was purchased online by a Vincent Lavecchia and delivered to Glenview, Illinois.
Reports said Herman Jenkins Motors was notified of fraud after the vehicle was delivered.
An investigation indicated the driver’s license received from the purchaser was not the actual buyer.
Following a phone contact with Lavecchia, of Park Ridge, Illinois, police learned his credit had been run in multiple places including vehicle dealerships in Myrtle Beach, Memphis, Kingston, Tennessee and Plano, Texas.
A phone contact with North Shore Towing and Semi Truck Heavy Wrecker in Glenview also revealed the stolen Tacoma was delivered on January 18th, then transported to Chicago on January 22nd.
A copy of the incident report was sent to the Park Ridge Illinois Police Department for assistance in the case.
The value of the theft from the Union City dealership, including the truck, taxes, insurance, drive out tags and finance charge was listed at $61,462.
