Tennessee House Speaker Cameron Sexton told KWAM that state lawmakers are drawing up plans to take over Memphis-Shelby County Schools and declare the school board “null and void.”

Speaker Sexton said the state would put a different board made up of individuals in Shelby County in charge to oversee the schools and make changes.

Former MSCS Superintendent Dr. Marie Feagins was recently fired by the school board and replaced by Dr. Roderick Richmond.
