Police Chief Ben Yates told Thunderbolt News the Motorola handheld radios are all in good working order.

Chief Yates said FEMA will deliver the donated radios to the Unicoi County Sheriff’s Office, where they will be distributed to officers and departments in need.

The donation to the flood damaged area of East Tennessee is the second from a Union City emergency services department.

In November, the Union City Fire Department received Council approval to gift a 1999 tanker truck to the Elk Mills Volunteer Fire Department.
