A Martin man was taken into custody in Union City on multiple charges.
Police reports said an officer first observed a vehicle with no headlights being operated by 51 year old John Curtis Whittaker.
In an attempt to initiate a traffic stop, police reports said Whittaker turned into the Maverick Convenience Store parking lot on Reelfoot Avenue.
He then fled north onto South Ury Street before stopping on Bishop Street.
After being detained, officers located a container in Whittaker’s pocket containing several half smoked marijuana joints, along with two cigarette packages on the ground containing additional marijuana joints.
A search of the vehicle also yielded four-grams of methamphetamine, 12-grams of marijuana and just over 34-grams of THC wax.
Whittaker was issued charges that included felony evading, driving under the influence, along with possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
