The Tennessee Valley Authority is requesting power conservation for Wednesday.
Union City Energy Authority CEO Kyle Ross said TVA is asking the public to lower their power consumption between 6:00 and 10:00 Wednesday morning.
While power systems remain stable, customer help will save money and reduce potential strain on the power grid.
Ways to reduce energy usage includes setting the home thermostat from 65-to-68 degrees, postponing the use of the clothes dryer, dishwasher and stove during peak times, and turning off non-essential appliances and lights.
Commercial businesses are also urged to turn off unneeded lights or office equipment when not in use.
