The Union City High School football team celebrated its 10-win 2024 campaign with a team banquet on Thursday night.
School Communications Director Mike Hutchens said among those recognized at the festivities were the Tornadoes’ representatives on the All-Region 7-A team.
They included All-Stater Kelan Roberson, named the league’s Best Lineman, Co-Offensive Most Valuable Player Zak Summers, and Coach of the Year Nick Markle.
Also voted to the squad for the region champions were Tayehari Jones, Cohen Simpson, Aiden Reid, Andre Small, Cohen Wood, Marcos Landeros, Kirben Thompson, and Alijah Simpson.
Markle presented each of his nine seniors with their home game jerseys as part of Thursday’s festivities. That group consisted of Roberson, Jones, Landeros, Cohen Simpson, Tucker Davis, Alton Smith, Davis Hayes, Troy Joslin, and Gavin Morgan.
Roberson received added recognition, acknowledging his selection to a pair of All-State teams and for being chosen to play in the annual Tennessee East-West High School All-Star Game.
Jones, Landeros, and Cohen Simpson were honored for being selected to play in the West Tennessee High School All-Star Game.
The 2024 Union City squad advanced to the state quarterfinals for the third straight year before losing to eventual state champion MASE.
