A Union City man has been sentenced to almost nine years in federal prison.
41 year old Micheal Eaton was sentenced to 105 months in prison for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
The sentence was announced by Reagan Fondren, the acting U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee.
Court evidence indicated during a traffic stop by Union City police officers, Eaton became involved in a confrontation with the officers.
After being detained, Eaton was found to be in possession of a loaded Charter Arms .38-caliber revolver.
Eaton was a felon prohibited with possessing firearms.
He was sentenced to 10 years incarceration in 2000 for possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, and sentenced to eight years in prison in 2010 for attempting to rob a Union City grocery store at gunpoint.
The case was investigated by the Union City Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
