Union City’s Stephen Vaden has been nominated to a position in the United States Department of Agriculture.

Farm Journal reported President-Elect Donald Trump nominated Vaden as the deputy secretary for the USDA.

During Trump’s first term as President, Vaden served as general counsel for the USDA, and brings extensive legal expertise and personal connection to farming.

In his announcement, Trump said Vaden would work with U.S. Secretary of Agriculture nominee Brooke Rollins.

During Trump’s first term as President, Vaden began as General Counsel and as a member of the Board of the Commodity Credit Corporation, where he won two cases before the United States Supreme Court.

Vaden left the USDA in December of 2020, when President Trump nominated him with Senate confirmation to serve as an Article III Judge on the Court of International Trade.

Senate confirmation hearings for both Vaden and Brooke Rollins will begin after Trumps inauguration on January 20th.
