Forty years of Christmas is in the books for Santa’s Village at the Ned McWherter Ag Pavilion in Martin.
Parks and Recreation Director Brian Moore told Thunderbolt Radio News that Saturday’s crowd was down somewhat overall, but Sunday’s crowd was among one of the largest for a single day.
A total of 22,328 visitors came to “Santa’s Village” to see the lights, petting zoo, Stanley Black and Decker model trains, the Enchanted Forrest, and, of course, Santa.
Mrs. Claus said she’s believes Santa had his picture taken more than 8,000 times during the four day holiday event!
Moore said 14,000 cans of food were donated this year and he thanked all who help donate food to feed the hungry.
This week, workers will take down all the decorations and tuck them away to make way for next year’s 41st anniversary.
