Members of the Union City High School volleyball team were honored collectively and individually Monday night, celebrating the program’s third-ever trip to the state tournament during the 2024 season.

Each of the 18 Lady Tornadoes on this year’s squad received a certificate commemorating the accomplishment and will get a plaque at a later date.

Union City set program records for most wins in a season (18) and won a game in the state tourney for the first time after claiming district and regional runner-up honors. The team also claimed a sectional victory on the road at Middleton.

The squad’s three seniors – Mary Kate Sinclair, Allysia Davis, and Brianna McBride – did receive special recognition from head coach Jessica Graham. No other individual accolades were given as Graham elected to stress the “team” concept as the driving force behind the Lady Twisters’ success.

McBride and Gracie Sims were honored for being selected for All-District, with Sims and Madie Theobald lauded for making the All-District Tournament team. Davis, who became just the second player in program history to sign a college scholarship, and Ca’Lae Ervin were named to the All-Region Tournament team.
