Channel 6 reports Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has announced that Global Laser Enrichment LLC will be building a uranium enrichment facility in McCracken County.
The new industry will create up to 300 full time jobs in the area.
GLE is acquiring 665 acres next to the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant, which has stored uranium that the company will process into nuclear fuel.
The Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant was shut down in 2013 after decades of operation.
