UT Martin Creates Memorial for Former Professors

UT Martin has unveiled plaques memorializing two men for their years of service to the university and the Martin Honors Program.

Director of University Relations Bud Grimes spoke about the impact these two men had on UTM.

Dr. Blythe worked as a geology faculty member from 1969 until 1997. He also served as a faculty athletic representative, chair of the UTM Athletics Board, and in the Kiwanis Club. Dr. Blythe died in 2005.

Zachary was a member of the psychology department from 1972 until 2005. He was announced as Honors Program director in 1997 after Dr. Blythe retired. Zachary left UTM in 2005 to join the University of Memphis faculty as a director of online psychology courses. He died in 2023.

The plaques memorializing these men have been placed in the Holland McCombs Center, home to the university’s Honors Programs.
