The project to install updated internet cabling in Weakley County high schools received full approval from the County Commission this week.

The school system had received a $600,000 grant to upgrade the current internet cables at Westview, Dresden High, Gleason, and Greenfield, which required a 20 percent match from the county.

Director Cupples explained the internet cable situation at the schools.

The commission previously voted against the upgrades in October, with Commissioner David Bell questioning why the schools were not looking into getting fiber optic cables.

This week Commissioner Bell changed his stance, saying that the current grant was the best solution they had.
