The Weakley County Sheriff’s Department has released a warning that scammers are calling residents of Weakley County to try and get money.
The scammers are advising residents to send them $3,000 through Walmart as two bonding vouchers for a person that is currently incarcerated for two warrants.
They have been stating that they are with the Sheriff’s Department and are spoofing the business line so that the Sheriff’s Department shows up on caller ID.
The Department says no employee from the Sheriff’s Office would ever call and ask or demand bond money.
