At the Weakley County finance, ways, and means meeting this week the committee approved a resolution regarding internet cabling at Weakley County High Schools.
School Superintendent Jeff Cupples informed the committee that the school system had received a $600,000 grant to upgrade the current internet cables at Westview, Dresden High, Gleason, and Greenfield.
The grant requires a 20 percent match from the county, which is $120,000. Director Cupples explained the internet cable situation at the schools.
Currently, the internet provided at the schools for students only ranges in speeds of 500 megabytes to one gig. The upgrade would allow the schools to receive 10 gigs of data.
