Several Contested Races in Obion County With Two Liquor Referendums

Today is Election Day across the nation.

In Obion County, the State and Federal General Election will have voting hours of 8:00 until 7:00 at 12 polling precincts.

Obion County voters have several contested local races and two alcohol referendums on today’s ballot.

The Town of Hornbeak has seven candidates seeking five Alderman seats, while six candidates are seeking five Alderman seats in Troy, and four candidates are in the race for three Alderman positions in Samburg.

In South Fulton, two candidates are seeking the seat of Ward 4 City Commissioner, with two candidates vying for the Ward 3 Councilman seat in Union City.

In races for Mayor, Ron Howard Dyer, Edwin Fickle and Timbo Smith are running for the Mayoral seat in Samburg, with Kent Greer, Billy Williams and Ronnie Irvan seeking the Mayor position in South Fulton.

In the City of Union City, voters will decide to permit, or not to permit, retail package stores to sell alcoholic beverages.

And in the Town of Obion, voters will cast ballots for, or against, the legal sale of alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises.

In Obion County, 8,833 early votes have already been cast during the 16 day period in October.
