The National Weather Service has released their United States winter outlook.

Officials say a slowly-developing La Nina is favored to influence conditions for the upcoming winter across most of the country, according to the Climate Prediction Center.

This outlook is for December through February of 2025 and contains information on likely conditions throughout the country for temperature, precipitation and drought.

La Nina conditions are expected to develop later this fall and typically lead to a more northerly storm track during the winter months, leaving the southern tier of the country warmer and drier.

Current forecast predictions indicate most of Tennessee and Kentucky will see a 33-to-40 percent chance of above normal temperatures during the winter period, with precipitation chances rated as near normal.
