The UT Board of Trustees met in Knoxville on Friday and authorized UT Martin to proceed with the design and build of a new residence hall on campus.

UTM Director of Housing Ryan Martin explained the situation.

The new building would replace Browning Hall. The University hopes to have the new building open by 2028.

Director Martin gave some details about the proposed building.

UTM had their highest fall enrollment this year since 2012 with over 7,500 students.

Director Martin said currently UTM student housing is at 96 percent occupancy, which is an increase compared to past years.
