Dresden Middle School’s Peyton Oliver claimed the first-ever individual state championship in the history of the Dresden Middle School cross country program with a time of 12:34 at the Knoxville Youth Athletics All-Division State Championship on Saturday.
The Lady Lions team finished in third place overall trailing West Collierville and Houston.
Hudson McDaniel and Sasha Rodriguez also took home medals for Dresden. McDaniel came in 9th overall with a time of 13:07 and Rodriguez finished in 17th with a time of 13:23.
The Dresden Middle boys team finished in 20th at the championship. Sixth-grader Benjamin Pettit finished at 20th overall.
