Westview Soccer Wins Game One at TSSAA Tourney

A slow start turned into a decisive win for the Westview Lady Chargers in the quarterfinals of the TSSAA Class A soccer tournament Wednesday night in Chattanooga advancing 4  to nothing.
First round opponent Lakeland Prep of Arlington, a team the Lady Chargers beat earlier in the season was shut out in the game. Westview had several opportunities early, but failed to convert until a corner kick by Ashlee Brent found it’s way to the back of the net with 10 minutes left in the half.
Westview led at the half, 1-0.
The progression of Westview soccer was on full display in the second half as the defense was the staple of the team for several years, but the offense showed up in the second half how far they have come.
Harper Jones collected a loose ball an smashed a 35 yard shot to take the 2-0 lead seven minutes into the half. Maddie Horton scored with a pinpoint pass by Brent in the box 20 minutes later.
The most impressive offensive display came with eight minutes left. Cambry Hatler settled a ball in the middle of the field and hit a streaking Brent in the 18- yard box. Brent then found Chanler Spendlove on her left, where she notched the final goal of the night to secure the victory,  4-0.
Westview improves to 17-5-1, and will play the Chattanooga School of Arts and Science Thursday night at 6:30 pm, eastern time, in the semifinals. CSAS defeated their opponent Cascade 4 to 1.
