The Westview Lady Chargers has advanced to the TSSAA State Soccer Sectional game after firing 48 shots Thursday evening in route to their 3-0 victory over Cheatham County. Westview will face Huntland with the winner advancing to the state tournament next week. Gametime Saturday has yet to be determined.
It was the second year that these two teams have met for the Region 6 title, with Westview winning both. Westview clinched their fourth Region championship in as many years.
Westview (15-5-1) were the agressors early. Sophomore Ashlee Brent drilled a shot from 35 yards out in the 28th minute to grab the early lead. That would be the only score of the half, despite 23 shots by the home team to only two for the Lady Cubs.
In the second half, Junior Hayden Markowski launched a high arching shot from the right side that hit the far post for the second score. Classmate Maddie Horton finished the onslaught with a shot with two minutes remaining to ensure a home match for the Lady Chargers in the TSSAA Sectional final on Saturday beginning at 5 against Huntland.
