A Weakley county EMA volunteer and member of the Tennessee State Guard has been deployed to East Tennessee to assist in disaster relief operations.

James Phillips, who is also a veteran of the United States Army, left for the area on Thursday. EMA Director Ray Wiggington told Thunderbolt Radio what Mr. Phillips would be doing in East Tennessee.

Mr. Phillips will be volunteering on a two week cycle. Director Wiggington says that recovery efforts in the affected areas may take a long time.
