The Westview Lady Chargers captured the 12A District Tournament Championship Thursday night over the Huntingdon Fillies 9-0 at the Martin Soccer Complex.
Junior Maddie Horton scored just five minutes in, and from that point things escalated quickly. Brea McGuffin scored on a perfectly placed corner kick by Ashlee Brent in the 11th minute and Brent scored a goal of her own 11 minutes later.
A miscue by the Fillies occurred with just a few minutes before the half as a ball ricocheted off their own player and went into the net. Junior Hayden Markowski finished the first half with a goal of her own to give Westview a 5-0 halftime lead.
Chanler Spendlove picked up her first score after an exceptional pass from Horton to extend the lead in the 57th minute. Horton scored the final three goals of the night to secure the victory, 9-0.
Westview (13-5-1) advances to the regional tournament where they will play Harpeth High School Tuesday, October 15th, in Martin. First touch is slated for 6:00 pm.
