Tennessee 8th District U.S. Congressman David Kustoff has helped secure a grant for UT-Martin.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture National Institute of Food and Agriculture Capacity Building Grant was in the amount of $745,000.
The grant was for non-land-grant colleges of agriculture.
UT-Martin Chancellor Dr. Yancy Freeman said the research and outreach provided by the federal grant will positively affect the university, Weakley County schools and West Tennessee.
Chancellor Freeman said the funds will also help the service area of their Innov8Africa partner for years.
Congressman Kustoff said farmers were the backbone of West Tennessee’s economy, and one of his main priorities in Washington.
