A nurse at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City has been charged with theft of property from a patient.

Union City police reports said 23 year old Tracy Fraley was charged with theft, after an investigation revealed the taking of a coin purse and cash from the patient.

Police were dispatched to the hospital after the 66 year old patient said she was sleeping, when she heard the nurse going through her purse.

The patient discovered her coin purse, which contained $100 in $20 bills, was gone.

After a description of the nurse was given by the victim, hospital officials identified Ms. Fraley, who had been employed since December of 2022.

The coin purse was later located after a maintenance worker was called to a clogged toilet, on the same floor of the victim.

Police reports said video showed Ms. Fraley walking from the patients room, to the bathroom where the purse was found.

At the police department, Ms. Fraley initially denied all accusations, but later admitted to the theft of the coin purse.

Reports said Ms. Fraley admitted to taking $60 and change from the purse, and was to bring the money back to police to return to the victim.
